Unable to unseat Ferrari at the 24 hours of LeMans in 1965 Henry Ford II became increasingly frustrated with his failing GT40 program. Ford II turned to an outsider from the Ford corporate program and enlisted Carroll Shelby and is rag tag team of mechanics, engineers and racers to make the GT40 a winner. The result was the evolution of the GT40 Mk I, starting by ditching the small block Ford engines and shoehorning in a big block 427 side oiler. Body work was modified for better aerodynamics along with engine and brake cooling, which is evident by the Mk II's prominent rear scoops.
The Superformance GT40 Mk II is the only GT40 licensed and eligible for the official GT40 registry. Features include an original style steel monocoque chassis, original suspension and are the only cars to receive official an “P” chassis number like the originals. The Mk II is available is a wide variety of configurations and options; wings, canards, lip spoiler, Gurney bubble and many more choices can be had. The Superformance GT40 can accept an equal variety of engine choices from small or big block Ford to Supercharged Coyote powerplants.
P2415 is one of the most unique Superformance GT40's to ever be produced. The chassis number on this Mk2 has been specially ordered to commemorate the 1966 Daytona 24 hour race and the car that Ken Miles along with codriver Lloyd Ruby drove to victory, P1015. P2415: "24" for the Daytona 24 Hour Race & "15" for GT40 1015 that won the race.
