A business deal gone bad, is how the Ford GT40 came to be. When Henry Ford II tried and failed to purchase Ferrari from founder Enzo Ferrari, the result was a feud that would consume the 60’s and be fought on the greatest racetracks across the globe. The GT40 Mk I was Ford’s answer to the Ferrari’s and was a vehicle the American market had never imagined possible. The Mk I’s original 289 and 302 Ford powerplants met with struggles but showed incredible potential. The Mk II and Mk I extra wide body evolved from the original Mk I and saw historical success.

The Superformance GT40 Mk I is the only GT40 licensed and eligible for the official GT40 registry. Features include an original style steel monocoque chassis, original suspension and are the only cars to receive official an “P” chassis number like the originals.

This GT40 Mk1 finished in stunning Liquid Blue and offset by Fuji Pearl twin and sill stripes. An all-aluminum 351 Windsor base 427 cui stroker engine built by Shelby Engine Company makes over 570hp and is topped by a Bolra Induction 8-stack fuel injection system finished in a vintage Weber downdraft carb look. Power is transfered through a Mendeola 5-speed transaxle and set to a set of Downforce Motorsports exclusive set of 18" 3-piece Forgeline wheels wrapped in Falken RT660 tires.
